Dear Laura,

The race is over and the results were less than exciting.  All of our incumbents maintained their seats (except for the City of Bell thank God!).

This includes CD 8 where Parks avoided a run-off by a mere 200 votes.  Think about that for a moment, 200 votes away from a citizen engaged candidate.

CD 4 where Tom LaBonge thinks his victory is based on the affection of his constituents.

Politicians:  This is not a mandate for you or your style of politics.  This is absolute disgust being applied incorrectly.

Props to all the candidates who pushed back!  Don’t give up!  We need you!

MESSAGE FROM JIM MESSINA

At 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time, the President and Vice President will be holding a campaign conference call for the supporters and volunteers who’ve powered this movement for the past two years. I hope you can join us.

As the 2012 campaign kicks off, we want to thank you for all that you’ve done, give a briefing on next steps as we build a new organization upon the foundation we’ve built together, and get everyone fired up for what lies ahead.

We’ve accomplished a lot over the last two years — but our work is far from done.

President Obama needs to continue his efforts to put Americans back to work and more fundamentally change the way business gets done in Washington. And while he keeps his focus on the job he was elected to do, he’s relying more than ever on supporters like you to start laying the groundwork — so we’re prepared for when the race hits full speed next year.

You can get in on the ground floor as we build this campaign.

Please join the President on tonight’s phone call. RSVP here to get a call at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time, or to listen in online:

If you can’t make tonight’s kick-off call, there will be another one this Thursday, April 7th, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. David Axelrod and I will talk about the strategy for the first few months of this campaign,

Talk to you soon,

Messina

SOME ADMIN:

We are grateful for the many years of support from our LAG4O family and as the 2012 Campaign amps up, we will continue to do our best to disseminate information and keep you abreast of what is really relevant in our portion of the Universe.  We also want you to be as successful as you can be in your organizing efforts so we are creating new tools to help you do that.

We will be trying a few new ideas in an effort to make things easier for you to get the word out.  One of these will be a form you can submit online to list your event.  We’ll holler out when it’s up and running.

The work starts with us and our job is to convince people why it’s important.

We are an all-volunteer based group dedicated to serving the needs of our community and our fellow activists. President Barack Obama has inspired and trained us to take action; to be our government.

Our team works closely with both the Southern California grassroots community and the National Obama Campaign.
Our mission is to help fellow activists come together and continue the Change we started. We believe that through civic engagement comes personal empowerment.
